Tamarindo is not just beach, there is actually a mangrove and estuary in Las Baulas National Park! If you or your kids likes boat ride and wildlife you cannot miss the opportunity to visit the estuary and have the chance to see at lot of animals such as iguanas, crocodiles, birds, colorful fish jumping through water, and don´t forget to look up or you can miss the howler monkeys swinging through the treetops.
On the outskirts of Tamarindo, situated on a private reserve, The Monkey Jungle is located in a tropical dry forest, with all the species and characteristics of the conservation area of Tempisque in Guanacaste. In this special place our 7 cables take off from the mountain side into the tree tops where under the canopy you can observe the animals that call this forest their home: Congo Monkeys, White Face Monkeys, Lizards, Armadillos, Wild boars and with luck small deer along with a large variety of native trees and plant species.
If you love hiking this must be in your list of thing to do, La Leona Waterfall is a small blue waterfall hidden deep in the canyons, if you want to get there get ready to swim, climb and trek through the forest.
After a 5 km intermediate hike level, a large and calm pool with a cave in the back emerged through the forest. Listen closely to the faintly roar of crashing water coming from the cave. Swim following the sound of the waterfall and you can find this small but amazing waterfall hidden inside the cave!

There are four main activities during this day of adventure: canopy (zip line) tour and rappelling through the Rio Blanco Canyon, a tubing adventure on the Rio Negro River with class III rapids, a horseback riding adventure, and relaxing with volcano-heated thermal waters, steam, and mud bath.
Explore the amazing Las Pailas Trail at Rincon de la Vieja National Park and see the volcanic activity as you discover the amazing dry-tropical forest. Then enjoy a walk to Oropendola Waterfall and take a swim in its incredible blue pool. After that, prepare yourself to relax in the hot springs and rejuvenating volcanic mud baths.
